Simply put, a "Literary Siren" is an alluring person who enjoys meaningful reading and writing. As such, this space is intended to share books and ideas that make people think and ponder. Hopefully, everyone who spends time in this space embodies the spirit of a "literary siren" and will enjoy embarking upon this exploration of "reading that matters".
The word "siren" also denotes a warning/alert of danger or emergencies. In the context of this "Literary Siren Salon", we would like to alert all of our guests that anopen mind and a spirit ofintellectual curiosity may be helpful while engaging the ideas presented in the current and future posts of reading materials.
A "literary salon"is a warm, inviting place where people gather to share ideas. On the Contact page of this site, you are invited to share your recommendations of meaningful works of literature, especially those that incorporate ideas of philosophy and science. In the future, your recommendationswill be posted on a list of suggested works that may include journal articles and websites, in addition to books. Future iterations of this Salon will also invite guests to participate in a discussion forum, both online and in person (DC metro area).
Speculative Fiction is the primary genre of the currently listed books (see Navigation bar at the top of each page). The short stories also fit in the sub-genre of "Weird/Strange Tales", whereas the novels can be considered, Fantasy/Philosophical Fiction (with elements of Sci-fi and Magical Realism).
